Good morning, my lovelies! I hope you’re all doing well. So, for the first walk of the New Year, I hope you had a good one. Today, I’m back around my old neighborhood in the woods, specifically Str Village. Just down there is the edge of the Notum St estate. Str Village is an absolutely stunning place, as you’ll see. We’ve got the Broad Oak Pub, Australia Hall, and some fantastic walks around here.

Today’s route takes us through the village, over the motorway, down to the back of Bosworth, through Babington, past Babington Hall, and then over to Benle Viu, where I should have gone a long time ago. After that, we’ll head back along the Nottingham Canal, up through Cell, a pretty little Hamlet, do a circle around the back, and then come back onto Catstck Hill, ending up back at the top of this road on the corner. It’s a cracking walk that I haven’t done in a long time, so let’s get going.

We pass by the old schoolhouse, surrounded by many pretty little buildings. Here we are at the Broad Oak Pub, now owned by Greene King. It’s a nice place with good food, and they might even have bands playing; I’m not sure. It was named after the oak tree.

Forgot to mention, today’s walk takes us into Derbyshire, specifically the AA Wash area, and then back into Nottinghamshire. Cell is a very pretty little Hamlet with details on history, which I’ll provide on-screen and in the links below.

Now, let’s continue the walk, catching the sunrise at Stry Hall, a picturesque place with a fantastic cafe. The walk leads us through private areas and a riding school, showcasing the beauty of the surroundings.

As we continue, we pass by Swing Gate, offering another path with beautiful views. The walk takes us through Port Pyon, Port Farm, and Cle, a very pretty hamlet with rich history, including associations with D.H. Lawrence.

We cut through Wassworth, the back of Babington, and then finally reach Benle Viu, an impressive iron giant, the largest of its kind. The views from here are fantastic, showcasing the East Midlands.

Continuing on the AA Wash, we make our way to Cell, a charming hamlet with a mix of old and modern housing. We traverse through various paths, avoiding mud and enjoying the scenery.

As we near the end, we cross over the motorway, passing Swing Gate again and getting a view of Catstck Hill. The walk concludes, and I hope you’ve enjoyed the journey.
